Wednesday Lunch Club

The club is for anyone living alone who would like a hot meal and good company. We meet on a Wednesday lunchtime at St Joseph’s Church, in the Jubilee room from 12pm-1pm. The charge for lunch is currently £3.50.

The Lunch club provides a place where people can meet and socialise in pleasant surroundings and enjoy a hot meal
provided during term time from St. Joseph’s School and often in the holidays by parish volunteers.

Volunteers set up, serve up, clear up, and transport our guests safely each week. Health and Safety regulations and
Safeguarding cover are checked and applied to all helpers.
Attendees get along with each other, make friends and may
even enjoy theatre excursions as well as “in- house”
entertainment.

In September 2023, the Jubilee room kitchen was awarded a Food Hygiene rating of 5, following an inspection by the
Durham County Council Senior Environmental Health Officer.

In November 2023, the Lunch Club received a Belmont Local hero award in recognition of all who help.

Can you help?

The Wednesday Lunch Club has had a very successful relaunch, offering our guests good food, good company an good conversation. To help our older parishioners enjoy their lunch, we desperately need more drivers, especially for St. Joseph’s side of the city. So …… CAN YOU HELP! Thank you in anticipation, Helen  and Kathleen
