Support to homeless people

The Parish is considering a proposal to work in partnership with Sanctuary 21 to open up St. Godric’s Church following afternoon Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for the purpose of offering a short period of warmth and hospitality to homeless people. At the present time Sanctuary 21 provide food and hospitality up to mid-day five days of the week but there is a gap in provision in the afternoon and early evening leaving people out on the streets. Our contribution would be a small step at this stage but hopefully could be developed in time. We would require a minimum of four volunteers for each occasion that we were to open. There is still a lot of background work to be done for this to become a reality and the whole proposal depends on the availability of volunteers. If you feel that you may be interested in committing to this worthwhile project please let the parish secretary know and subject to sufficient interest a meeting can be arranged to discuss it further.
