Confirmation

"The effect of the sacrament of Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. From this fact, Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace: it roots us more deeply in the divine filiation which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!";it unites us more firmly to Christ; it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us; it renders our bond with the Church more perfect;it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross."

Confirmation Programme 2021/22

Excited to launch a new Confirmation programme in September 2021, Durham Martyrs Youth Ministry are working with the priests, catechists and parishioners in the Finchale Partnership to bring this opportunity to a church near you. The parishes involved are:

  • Blessed Edmund Duke Parish (Trimdon, Sedgefield and Coxhoe)

  • St. Cuthbert’s Parish (Durham)

  • Durham Martyrs’ Parish (Durham)

  • St. John Boste Parish (West Durham)

  • St. Patrick’s Parish (Langley Moor)

With retreats, away days and celebrations, all candidates will have the opportunity to join with other young people from around the Partnership on their journey towards Confirmation! Look out for more details after the summer holidays or contact  youth.durhammartyrs@rcdhn.org.uk now!
