Confirmation

"The effect of the sacrament of Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. From this fact, Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace: it roots us more deeply in the divine filiation which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!";it unites us more firmly to Christ; it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us; it renders our bond with the Church more perfect;it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross."

- CCC 1302-1303 , Catechism of the Catholic Church

Confirmation Mass 2026

We had a wonderful and joyful celebration on Tuesday 5th May when 44 young people received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Stephen Wright, followed by a celebration buffet in the Jubilee Room.

Many thanks to Sarah and Ciaran for their leadership and encouragement over the past weeks and months culminating in a very special evening.  Thanks also to all the helpers who provided the buffet, set and cleared the tables, not forgetting the clearing and washing up.

We warmly congratulate all the young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was a truly special occasion, and we celebrate this important step in your faith journey. We pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide and inspire you, and that you will remain active members of our parish community, growing in faith and sharing your gifts with others.

We would love to hear from you as you continue your journey within the parish. If you have any ideas about what you would like to see in parish life, whether that be events such as a family fun day or other activities you would enjoy getting involved in, please do email Sarah. Your voice is important, and we look forward to building a vibrant parish community together.
