The Word of God

Philippians 4:4-9

Rejoice in the Lord, always! I say it again: rejoice, and may everyone experience your gentle and understanding heart. The Lord is near: do not be anxious about anything. In everything, resort to prayer and supplication, together, with thanksgiving, and bring your requests before God. Then, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, fill your minds with whatever is truthful, holy, just, pure, lovely and noble. Be mindful of whatever deserves praise and admiration. Put into practice what you have learned from me, what I passed on to you, what you heard from me or saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.

Reflection

Being happy is good for us. Laughter and joy can lift our spirits and bring us happiness and a sense of wellbeing. When joy and happiness are shared, they bring people together and help people to feel connected to each other. We can create an atmosphere that is bright and cheerful by being generous in our kindness and care of one another.

The Word of God I have chosen is inviting you to look for opportunities to bring happiness and joy to yourself and to others.

Ritual

Look for opportunities today, for ways in which you can make those around you happy, really happy by your thoughtfulness and care. Notice when you bring real joy to others, it comes back to you abundantly. Take time this evening, when you are preparing to sleep, to thank God for the happiness you experienced during the day, and for the happiness you brought to others.

Remember

Happiness comes from giving and receiving.
