The Wednesday Club
Do you enjoy cheerful company, good conversation, a chance to catch-up with old friends and make new ones? The Wednesday Club is the group for you! We meet in St. Joseph’s each week from 12 noon till 1.00 p.m.
Thanks to our generous parishioners, we can usually provide transport if this would be a problem and then you will be generously fed - food and gossip in a lovely, warm atmosphere while our hidden workers slave over the washing up, serving up and clearing up! Not sure if this is for you? Come and try it- a warm welcome awaits!

We have a lovely group of people – guests and helpers – who are involved in the Wednesday Club for senior citizens and those needing some friendly company. On average there are approximately 16 guests and lunch is held in the Jubilee Room at St. Joseph’s, lunches being provided by St. Joseph’s Primary School. Helpers provide transport where needed, serve the food, sometimes with added treats, and tidying away.
The group of helpers varies – usually about 8-10 people. 4/5 drivers and 3/5 in the kitchen. We could do with a little extra help and if you (male or female) could spare half an hour, an hour, or two at the most, it would be greatly appreciated.
You would need to have a Safeguarding DBS check and certificate. This is organised by the parish.
If you would like to be involved, please contact Marjorie initially and she will put you in touch with one of the following: Kathleen Murray, Pat Conway, Joanna Pallister, Maria Quinn.
