My final weekend in the parish finally arrives and it is one that is, of course, bittersweet. The joy of bringing our young people to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is always a special one and as my final celebration as the Youth Ministry Coordinator it is one that moves me deeply. The sadness of leaving the parish for pastures new is a testament to the supportive and welcome community here in the Durham Martyrs’ Parish. Since arriving in 2018, I feel Durham is now a second home filled with friends, colleagues and an evident love of the Gospel. As I make my departure, I would like to thank everyone for the kind words, cards and gifts I have received over the past weeks. Your generosity is so moving and very much appreciated. Special thanks to Fr. Colm for his constant support of my role and the young people, and for his guidance and mentoring for me personally. Thanks to Erica, Leanne and Marjorie who have all been instrumental in making my time in the parish one of productivity, joy and witness. And to all parishioners, young people, school staff, volunteers for your warm welcome and great support. I will keep you all in my prayers as I move onto my new adventures and look forward to returning to Durham in the future to visit. With heartfelt thanks and prayers, Katie
