Becoming an Altar Server

Information on our website has been updated to included the parental and volunteer forms required by the diocese depending on the age of the person wishing to be an Altar Server.
The first step is to talk to the priest and agree that the individual child/ adult can take on the role
Then contact Gillian MacArthur the Parish Safeguarding representative whose contact details are on the Safeguarding Board at both St Godrics and St Josephs. Gillian will talk you through the simple application process.
The guidance is as follows
1) If a child is under 14 then a parental consent form will need to be completed. These are available in PDF and Word Document versions below.
2) If a child is 14-18 then a parental consent form will need to be completed . In addition the child will need to complete a volunteers application form . However references will NOT be required. These are available in PDF and Word Document versions below.
3) If an individual is 18 or over they will need to
a) Complete a volunteers application form including references. These are available in PDF and Word Document versions below.
b) Undertake a DBS check
c) Complete the Diocese level 3 online training
d) Sign a safeguarding agreement.
