St. Joseph’s

The children in each class would like to invite parents and families to attend their Classroom Creative Prayer session. This will be happening on Wednesday 2nd July at 2.30pm. 

As part of our Jubilee Year Pledge, every Friday we sell ice lollies in school to raise money for charities chosen by our Mini Vinnies. This week we will be raising money for the Cheesy Waffles Project and all donations would be gratefully received. 

Please contact the office if you would like to help with Our Friends of the School community and also if you would like to help at our upcoming Summer Fayre which is happening on Wednesday 16th July.

St. Godric’s

St. Godric's school summer fair will take place on the school field this Sunday 29th  June, 12 noon until 3pm. There will be lots of stalls and activities to enjoy including tombolas, toy and book stalls, lawn games, jewellery and plant stalls, inflatables, delicious food options and more.

Parishioners, friends and family are all welcome.

The Way of Creation - Via Creationis – the Friary garden, Sunday, 29th June 2025

The friars invite you to the first meeting of, ‘The Way of Creation’: of prayer and meditation on the book of Genesis which will take place in the Friary garden. We will meet at the Friary for tea & coffee at 4.15 pm after Exposition, and then move into the garden.

The Via Creationis happens regularly in many parishes across the world following Pope Francis encyclical Laudato Sì.  Like the Stations of the Cross, the Way of Creation is a series of seven meditations and prayers. We will reflect on aspects of creation and the suffering it endures at the hands of human destruction.  We will pray for the redemption of creation and reflect on what we can do to save it.”

Congratulations to the 22 young parishioners who celebrated their Confirmations last Tuesday. Thank you Sarah and Ciaran for your leadership in getting them to this great day.

Over three hundred people filled the nave of Durham Cathedral on Monday to hear Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe speak. He gave an interesting firsthand account of the recent Conclave, describing it as much more relaxed and joyful occasion than the recent film would have us believe. Both Cardinal Radcliffe and Professor Anna Rowlands then answered some interesting,  and challenging questions.

We had a great afternoon at St. Godric’s last Saturday with the Durham University Brass Band, despite a rather too serious beginning to the second half of the programme. 

Feast of Saints Peter and Paul:
