Parish News and Announcements

Readers in the parish are invited to join us for a Reflection Evening on Thursday 21st November 7pm in the Jubilee Room (Don Bosco Room if clashes with Journey in Faith) on the New Lectionary Translation which we will begin using at Mass beginning on the 1st Sunday of Advent. This is also an opportunity to reflect on our Ministry as Readers and to support and assist each other in sharing our good practice for proclaiming the Word at Mass.

As Fr. Colm notes in this week's bulletin those interested in reading in church are more than welcome.

Great news with the Journey in Faith beginning on Thursday, 14th November at 2.30pm. This is a journey we all need to be on, as Faith is such unfolding discovery. We have an excellent, experienced team with different speakers invited on specific aspects of Faith. Now, for this to succeed, we do need you. Accompanying someone is like a school buddy … a reference point. The point being that it encourages all participants in the knowledge that others are seeking.

Another bulletin piece worth giving real thought to is the reflection time for readers. Can I add that those interested reading in church are more than welcome. The session will be relaxed and a sharing of ideas, and indeed, from experienced readers, what that experience is like.

“True sympathy can’t be turned on and off like an electric switch, and when you really share someone else’s fate, it means giving up some of your own freedom.” Stefan Zweig

Our next Movie Night will take place on Thursday 7th November at the slightly earlier time of 6:30pm in the Jubilee Room. We will be showing 'The Mission' (PG) starring Robert de Niro and Jeremy Irons. The film is a powerful action epic about a man of the cloth and a man of the sword who unite to protect an indigenous tribe in Paraguay. The Mission was the winner of the 1986 best Cinematography Oscar which will be quite spectacular on our greatly improved screen! Wine and light refreshments will be served. Don't forget your cushions!
